After we put the hawthorn and blackthorn in to form the hedge between us and the field below we're left with five bird cherries which we plant out in a little group at the bottom of the garden ... and that's it ... job done and we can both stagger back indoors. By now we are feeling shattered and so each tree hole is customised to the shape and size of it's root system to avoid any extra digging. We are normally pretty robust so this horrid flu bug is most unwelcome.
