After all our hard work clearing the rubbish off the top of the Big Field, we've spent a couple of days raking the surface of the soil ready to sow grass seed. We ordered our Special Morgan Mix made up for us by Wynnstay. It's a blend without ryegrass so that we can encourage the weaker native grasses to re-establish, along with wild flowers that are already here in our traditional hay meadow. After night time rain the soil conditions were just right. I continued to prepare the soil just ahead of Dave's sowing. Now we just have to hope the pigeons don't find out what we've been doing!
