Our hedge arrives

I was continuing with my task of digging out the front garden in readiness for planting when our hedge arrived on a pallet! It came rather quicker than anticipated but this just spurred me on to work faster! Although the plants had got a little squashed they look in good condition and by the end of the day I had them all placed in position! However we have decided to put a simple brick edging down before they are planted, which will be tomorrow's task. While I worked I unearthed a tiny, juvenile palmate newt. It's the first one I've seen and only about a cm long. He quickly tucked himself away in the damp soil and hopefully will appreciate the pond that we are making.
