Today I managed to make real progress on the kitchen garden. The soil was dry enough to dig despite all the recent rain. Dave joined me in the afternoon and as I lifted turf from the middle section he continued breaking up the soil on the first part of the plot. Hopefully it won't be long now before we can plant. I have been going to bed with seed catalogues! All the while I dug the birds sang their hearts out from the hedges nearby. Although the robin watches me work he never flies down although there are plenty of worms for him.
